Las Posadas and National Chocolate Covered Anything Day

On the long dusty trail to Bethlehem, we’re pretty sure that Mary would have appreciated having something dipped in chocolate to make the journey more enjoyable.

Las Posadas

Mary and Joseph Along with poinsettias, Mexico has given us a wonderful Advent celebration known as Las Posadas that goes on from the 16th through the 24th. It is a celebration that reenacts the journey that Mary and Joseph took from Nazareth to Bethlehem and their difficulty trying to find a place to stay where Mary could ultimately give birth. Las Posadas is like caroling taken up a notch. The visitors sing. The home sings back. The visitors sing again and it goes on. It’s an awesome community event that I hope catches on outside of the Mexican-American community.

National Chocolate Covered Anything Day

There are so many wonderful things that become even more so when covered with chocolate. Nuts, fruits, pretzels, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream… How can you go wrong? My personal favorites are Chocodiles, which are chocolate covered Twinkies. Mmm! I’m also a massive fan of cordial cherries and Cadbury Eggs.
