Candy canes can spice up other treats, too. Dipping a candy cane into your hot cocoa and stirring it around is a fine way to infuse a cheerful mint flavor.

Candy canes also make wonderful decorations. Wrapping red ribbon around white bannisters lends a special holiday twist to otherwise plain household features. The pillars of my own front porch growing up were the talk of the town when mom wrapped them with broad red tape for Christmastime!

Lining the front edge of our lawn with PVC candy canes was both festive and functional. If it snowed, you could still tell where the street ended and my yard began because the candy canes were waist-high.

You can make a bouquet of red and white flowers and wrap them in a candy cane cellophane as a housewarming gift when you’re visiting friends. Red and white striped gift boxes make a charming container for gifts of candy or collectibles.

Candy canes are also a classic Christmas tree decoration. The crook of the cane hangs rather conveniently on the tree and you can use them as giveaway treats for visitors. Some people make candy cane cookies and then shellac them so that they can be kept indefinitely. Whether cut-out cookies or rolled, these make a tempting but inedible addition to your collection of Christmas tree decorations.

There are so many clever ideas that you can use to incorporate candy canes into your holiday decor and gift giving.
