The Movies that inspired this year’s story…

Unlike prior years, this year’s story wasn’t inspired by a particular Christmas song. I took the notion of a love triangle and said, ‘what if Scrooge’s visiting spirits were Carol’s potential suitors?‘ and ran from there.

With that in mind, I present some of my favorite versions of this beloved Dickens story.

This is the one I watched with my parents growing up when it played on TV.

This is the one I watched with my kids when they were growing up because Captain Picard / Professor X is Scrooge!

This is another one I watched frequently when growing up. As much as I don’t particularly like musicals, when they break through to Scrooge and get him to sing the ‘I Like Life’ song, it’s really wonderful.

I like how they put a spin on Dickens’ classic tale.
I like how they put Fonzie in Salieri geezer makeup instead of getting an actual old guy.
I like how they changed it from Victorian England to Depression Era New England.
What’s not to like about this interpretation and how they rolled with it? Awesome storytelling.
